Two former Department of Road Transport and Safety employees have teamed up to help enhance the quality of driving and safety on the roads. We also provide a pre-employment assessment programme through which companies or individuals can engage us to evaluate the drivers they want to employ and make recommendations on whether or not they are worth hiring," said Tshere. In another development the Mr Driver directors said their training is done to suit the requirements of a company and each programme is designed to suit the client. Another benefit that companies have from Mr Driver consultancy is that the company has a follow up programme to monitor those that have passed through their capable hands. "Under this arrangement we can check on the drivers every three months to find out whether things have improved or not and advise where necessary. This is not covered by the BOTA training levy and companies have to pay for it themselves. They will however have to be prepared to work within our schedule which is more suited for companies", Kitso said. According to the directors, companies that use the institution to train their drivers will be reimbursed their training expenses through the BOTA training levy fund. "We teach safe driving and can train drivers for all of the licenses up to extra heavy duty. In 2010 Mr Driver Consultancy got their BOTA accreditation and since then they have not looked back. "Whilst working at DRTS we realised that people out there needed someone to help you them better their driving skills because of the calls we got from companies and individuals enquiring if we could give them extra coaching. This how the idea was born," Kitso told Your Money. We do our practicals at DRTS premises and this exposes us to the best facilities", Tshere explained when quizzed on how Mr Driver differs from the under the tree driving schools around the country. The two driving gurus went on to say their operation was aimed more at companies than individuals. Amongst their satisfied customers are the Botswana Power Cooperation and Scania Botswana. The government has allowed us to use their teaching material. |
